Journey to Healing

Now playing: You Say by Lauren Daigle

I burnt my chest with hot water.
I got back from school and I told my mum I was hungry. She told me to get beans for my sister and I. Oh! The joy😀. The taste of Iya Sheila’s beans was so delicious; plus it’s always much.
With excitement, I ran towards the room to get dressed and also get the plate for the beans. As I raised the curtain that led to the room, I ran into my mother who was carrying hot water. Emphasis on hot. She didn’t know I was coming.  The water spilled on my chest and I screamed in pain as I rubbed that spot. I was in pain.

Later that day, my granny who is a nurse treated me. The pain was still there, and I felt so sad. I just kept thinking if I had seen the future, I wouldn’t have asked to eat beans. It took more than a week before it healed.
Just like the physical injury I had growing up, some of us might have had to go through some unfavorable conditions that have left us with wounds. It could be abuse. Either physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse.
These wounds might have crippled our self-image and stained the way we see ourselves.
I have had a share of some of these things and I know the effect they had on me.

For some of us, it caused us to battle with insecurities and even some addictions. I know how much some of these things affected my self-esteem, self-image, and life in all.
And we need to fix it now. The wishes won’t heal us. On some nights, I am up thinking if sister x didn’t do so and so I might never have to struggle with some of these things.

If I wasn’t talked down on or made a jest of for my complexion, just maybe I won’t have had to battle with these things. We need to stop playing the victim mentality. This is not our identity. That day, I kept wishing I had just sat in the sitting room and allow another person to buy the beans or not even ask for beans at all. But it happened already, and I either go for treatment or keep living in pain.
When you hurt, you don’t abandon the place and hope to heal. If it’s a wound, you treat it with spirit and disinfect it.
These things have happened, and our healing is our responsibility. If we want to live our best lives as believers, we need to heal. Don’t ignore these wounds. If you do, it might heal, but it won’t be whole. Just a little hit, the bleeding is back.
The journey to wholeness will not be rosy. We might still have to walk about with crutches or plasters on the wounds, but the constant thing is we are healing.

The best therapist we have and would ever have is God and his word. So, he’s the best to expose our wound too. You don’t feel like talking about it? Write to him. Write about the wound. Pour out your heart to him. The word of the lord is therapeutic. Declare what the word says concerning you. Expose the wounds to his light.

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.
Psalm 34:18 MSG

When the healing process starts, you might still feel pain. I had to go to school with pain in my chest. It itched me a lot, but I was told not to touch it. I kept going for treatment until it dried up and I no longer felt pain.
God would make us address things we would rather have left alone. It would be painful but he would he wrap you in his love. He would heal your hurt.

"A huge step in healing will involve the purification of our minds, thoughts, hearts, words, and actions. Purification continues to grow our confidence and provide us with peace."
Remember, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers in high places. So, continually take charge of your thought by declaring the word constantly.

So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful,l and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
Philippians 4:8 TPT

When a wound is being treated there may be a need for people who would hold you down to stop you from running away or disturbing the treatment. You may want to speak to a trusted person who can ‘hold’ you as you heal.

We have delayed the healing process enough. It’s time to live our best life.
We have allowed our wounds to cripple us fora long. It’s time to walk again and this time full of life. Your past, let it be.
It was not your fault; I know. But you have to heal.
God desires that we live our best life on earth. If we don’t treat these wounds, we won’t move faster.

The other day, someone on twitter was talking about a person or people mocking her story. Her freedom from masturbation. Quite sad. Please, as you heal, ignore those who might want to mock your process. Ignore!  When you feel pained, cry to God.

Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 TPT

You who try to mock people when they are healing, please stop it. Respect their process.
Employ the use of thanksgiving as you heal. It’s one key tool for wholeness. Remember the ten lepers? He made only the one that came back to give thanks whole.

The world is waiting for you!
They want to hear your victory song.
Your destiny is tied to some others. Rise!
You will heal.
